Inherited and Re-Loved Vanity

Today I am going to show a make over of a vanity that was given to my mother from my Grandma. It has never been painted but it was pretty rough with veneer coming off the drawer and a lot of scratches and it was just dark and heavy. It was time for a update.

I would have left it stained if it was in great shape, So I sanded down the drawer to smooth down the chipping veneer. 

I choose the colors cheesecake for the base of it and for the mirror and used lazy linen on the drawer. It all received two coats of paint and was heavily distressed in places where natural wear would have been to make it have that old feel again. 

I finished the whole piece in natural wax. 

I wasn't worried about the dings in the wood that just helps add to the charm and leaves the history of the piece there and still lets it be old even with any new painted added to it.

I also left the knobs original to the piece they were already the perfect color.

Estate Sale End Table Makeover

 Today I am going to share a make over of a table I got at a estate sale a couple of weeks ago. It started out that ugly shade of brown of 70's furniture and had a lot scratches it was time for a update

I wanted to lighten up the piece and give it a fresh look for spring so I decide to go with the elegance color from Country Chic Paint.

I used the beeswax distressing bar in places and then gave it 2 coats of paint and distressed it pretty heavily in places that would naturally wear over time.

and then I finished the table in natural wax. 

I love how it turned out! and how much lighter and newer it looks but still has a old charm to it. if your wondering about the light hanging it is a old bait basket we made into light! and a vintage table cloth behind the old door!

My Night Stand

Hey y'all I am going to share a little night stand makeover with you today. I have been searching for a night stand for my room for about a month now, and I went to antique/flea mall and found one recently that had the look that I was going for. It was such a dark brown and kinda wavy it just was not pretty.. Here is the before.

I love the shape and the legs on it and even the hardware but it needed much needed updating!

I recently got accepted to be a guest blogger for Country Chic Paint, They send me the paint to use on pieces and I write blog posts for their blog int return! so get ready for a ton of new makeovers! I am super excited about this new venture.

So for this piece I chose the colors lazy linen and elegance. Lazy linen is a light grey color and elegance is a very light blue/green color. and it goes with my room great! which is painted in Sherwin Williams- watery and just a basic white color. 

The paint goes on super smooth and has great coverage, it is super easy to work with. It has little smell and VOC free which is a huge plus and is chalk and mineral based and all waxes are made from beeswax and natural oils. It dries super quick, I was able to finish this night stand in a couple of days. I started off with a beeswax distressing bar to make distressing a little easier.

And did the base in the lazy linen and the drawer in the elegance and finished the drawer in white wax and rest in natural clear wax! What do y'all think?

Diy Moss Four Leaf Clover

I have quite a bit of scrap wood all different sizes none of it is all cut perfect. So I like to use it for little signs.. The other day I bought some reindeer moss from Dollar Tree to make little moss balls and decided to use some of it to make a little sign.

I decided on a four leaf clover with St. Patrick's day coming up, I started out by painting the board white and used dark wax then dried brush white over the top and used a rag to smooth it all out. 

After that I used a color pencil to draw out the design of the clover while my hot glue gun heated up. I pulled apart some of the moss and started by putting hot glue down around the design and adding in smaller pieces to make sure it looked like a clover,

And that was it! took me about 30 mins to make it and now you have cute decor for spring that gives a touch of green!

vintage flour sack and a chair makeover

Hey y'all, I hope everyone had a good Christmas! Im going to show a chair makeover that I did a while back. I found this chair at either a yard sale or thrift store and only paid between 5-10 dollars for it. The fabric was just gross looking and the chair had scratches. 

I like the style of the chair and I happened to buy a sample pot of Annie Sloans Antibies Green, which I also found some antique flour sack fabric and one piece matched the green perfectly! 

Its a bright green but it brings a pop of color and would be great for a kids desk. 

I painted it and decided to not distress it so after the paint was done all I did was wax it and this how it came out! 

Excuse the bad pictures it was before I got my really good camera! Doesn't that fabric match perfectly? 

Old sewing table and Christmas time

So I got this sewing table for free, someone gave it to me, and I needed another little table in my room, my desk isn't big enough for all that I do. And I knew it would be perfect for it. So I took out the sewing machine and brace the part the opened and left the hidden storage in the table top to the left. here is how it started.

I love the legs on it! They have such a french style. So ive had this table for a while and i just never got around to painting it yet, but with Christmas coming up I wanted to put a small tree in my room and needed a place to put, so I finally finished it yesterday and decorated it.

I started out mixing some Country Chic paint in cheesecake and Annie Sloan french linen to give it a cool off white color since my bead board in my room is white. I love the white on white but you always want to do different shades of white to give it more texture. After that I used vaseline in random places so when i distressed the piece it would be kinda chippy.  

I used Miss Mustard Seed's hemp oil for a top coat and painted the handles in liquid gold leaf and used antiquing wax over them to darken them some.

For the Christmas decorations, I used a infinity scarf I crochet for a tree skirt, part of a burlap coffee sack on top of the table, the chalkboard I made from a old cabinet door, the mini Eiffel tower came from a yard sale as did the book, and the presents are the light boxes wrapped in Kraft paper with lace trim and bakers twine and a 1950s England stamp!

Underneath the table i added a old little picnic basket from a thrift store, and my $10 dollar dough bowl( huge score!) and one little white deer from a yard sale and some pine tree clipping! 

Also every ornaments on the little tree is either handmade by me or a vintage Christmas ball. What do y'all think?

The Coffee Table

we found this coffee table a while back and the top needed to be nailed and glued back down other than that it didn't have any problems.  I was going to stain the top but the green stain that was on it wouldn't come out, so I had to settle on painting it. Here is the before

Ignore the Halloween table cloth it was raining again! I wanted to give the table a french Swedish kinda of look. So I chose to paint the bottom in a blue/gray/green color then go over it with Annie Sloan chalk paint in french linen and I was going to paint the top in white but it wasnt covering good so I went over it in french linen.

So this is how it came out after everything, did white on the fake drawer part, and left the pulls original, and distressed it so you could see the underneath color, which you can see more below. and I clear waxed and dark waxed it all to make it feel old!

Those drawer pulls are amazing!
